A rare and highly sought-after Cmielow Poland porcelain 'Laying Cat' (Leżąca Kotka) figurine. The mid century figure is by Mieczysław Naruszewicz and was designed in 1958 as part of the Polish New Look Collection, so circa 1959. The simplified feline figure is a true icon of Polish mid-century modernism. She's a smooth glazed glossy white with hand painted green eyes, over a hollow moulded fine white porcelain - a harder to find simple white version of the design. She's stamped on the base with the Cmielow Porcelain logo and has the hand written number C-211-1080. Excellent condition for the era. Displays very well. A tiny invisible spot of missing glaze to the top right ear. A long and sleek 30.5cm x 12.5cm tall x 16.5cm deep. A perfect addition for a 1950s Cmielow Porcelain collector. She's so beautiful and photogenic! Free P&P within the UK via Special Delivery.
