A lovely large 29cm tall vase by Carstens Tönnieshof, Austria. Circa 1960s to 1970s fat lava mid century era. It's in a fabulous blue geometric decor with matt textured grey upper and lower parts. Model number 1218-29. (Carstens outsourced their West German ceramics to Austria at their peak, and this is an Austrian produced West German Carstens Tönnieshof vase).
The glossy blue is royal blue and a light turquoise with black random linear brick/block like divides. The glazed black lines are slightly bubbled and textured. The contrasting matt grey is a dull flat grey which is susceptible to marks. Glossy brown internally with good rim line.
29cm tall x 16cm wide in the middle - a perfect centrepiece statement for a mid-century room. It's in good condition. It does have a few small lighter marks to the matt grey and a slightly imperfect baseline, but no visible chips or cracks. Please see photos.
