A hard to find teak and beech wood Viking figurine, attributed to Danish designer Jacob Jensen from about 1958 - one of Jensen’s earliest pieces. Made by Brdr Bonfils, Denmark, in the late 1950s I believe.
Jacob Jensen was a Danish industrial designer best known for his work with Bang & Olufsen. Jensen (1926-2015) designed numerous popular high-end consumer products, developing a functional minimalist style that formed an important part of the Danish modern movement.
A nicely made and simplified Danish viking figurine - typical of Danish/Scandinavian mid century modern design. These figures are hard to find and are believed to be prototypes to the more commonly found sets.
Good condition, please check all photos. He's complete with no visible chips. There's a natural crack to the back of a foot. Stamped 'Bonfils Denmark' underneath, and also priced '8,75'. He's been lightly re-oiled.
12.5cm tall and sturdy. 8cm widest x 6cm deepest.
