A pair of iconic vintage Danish salt and pepper grinders by Danish brand Bodum. The 'Ball Boy' set was designed by Richard Nissen in 1967, with the holder tray designed by Carsten Jørgensen. These were mostly produced in the 1980s, so likely from this era.
The turned spheres are formed from beech wood and the black handles are cast iron. The salt mill has a single white dot on the top. The simple modernist high-quality design is typically Scandinavian mid-century modern.
The pepper mill has a steel Peugeot lion grinding mechanism, apparently, with the salt mill having a plastic grinder. The two sit on a tray/stand with black cast iron carry handle. They unscrew underneath (with the help of a little upwards pull on the holders), with the mechanisms lifting out for re-filling with black peppercorns or salt grains. Turn the handles for dispensing. Round mills are 8.5cm diameter and 11cm tall. Tray is 21.5cm x 11cm x 16cm.
Very good vintage condition with some small marks to the wood. Perfect for display or use.
P&P included within the UK via Royal Mail's Tracked 24.
