A beautiful Bitossi pottery large chamber-stick style candle holder. Designed by Aldo Londi in the 1960s or so, this is the typical Rimini Blu glaze, with three stylised flower motifs in blue glazes to the central stem. It's a harder to find un-named decor which was probably only produced for the Scandinavian market. It has a model number or date 72/6 on a sticker to the reverse and is unsigned. It dates from the 1960s/1970s. The curvy tiered candle holder with integrated lower saucer and handle is designed to take a single standard tapered dinner candle and catch any wax in the upper catcher. The pattern is glazed in dark blue and lime green. All typical glazes and colours of designs by Londi. Handmade and rustic in feel and nature with Bitossi's typical rough textured clay. Excellent vintage condition with no chips (Bitossi is very prone to flakes and small chips due to the rustic pottery, so it's very unusual to find something so good). If you inspect it very closely there is one dot of white. Any fine crazing to the glaze is deliberate and part of Londi's design. 12cm tall x 15.5cm wide lower dish. Inner candle holder is about 2.3cm wide. Unsigned to the base. Price includes P&P to the UK.
