A super over-sized 'fat lava' vase, circa mid century 1960s/1970s era. Model number 3001-30, by Jopeko and made in West Germany.
The glaze is a glossy flowing red, dripping over a glossy rich deep blue colour. Matt black inside. It has an ornamental handle on a large angular shaped vessel. The style is typical of the designs of the post war West German vases from the 1960s/1970s - deliberately mixing and bleeding colours, glazes and textures over those wonderful modernist designs. The blue is a very deep royal blue and the red is a darker pure red, frothy and dripping with a black halo. It's all smooth and highly glossy.
This vase is a large example - a floor vase. Ideal for larger statement fronds and branches and feathers. Base reads '3001-30' - the '3001' denoting the form/design and the '30' denoting 30cm tall (well, 31.5cm!). 20cm wide at the widest point x 13cm deep, 6cm diameter inner rim. Weighs 1.65kg. Usable as both a vase and for display, adding a splash of rich and vibrant retro colour to your room.
Good condition with no chips or crazing. Some patches of scratches, mostly to the deep blue sides. It displays very well but is priced accordingly with the scratches (worst is shown).
Price includes P&P to the UK.
