A late 1970s design from Arabia, Finalnd - the Ruija dinnerware range. This is the Ruija huge round serving platter. The shape was designed by Ulla Procopé (she worked for Arabia from 1948 to 1968), and the decor is by Raija Uosikkinen. Ruija was in production between 1977-1981. It is made of thick beige stoneware with a decoration of brown plums - the design is also known as Ruija Troubadour. It's identical to the Anemone series, which features the decor in blue instead of brown. Circa late 1970s vintage. It is large and tactile, with dark autumn colouring, beautifully designed. Classic sturdy design with brown and black glaze with taupe background. It's perfect for serving cold meat and cheese platters and larger party dishes, especially around Christmas time. Deep enough to hold everything in place. 33.3cm wide x about 3.5cm tall max. It's chunky and heavy. Stamped to the back with the logo. Excellent condition. Free P&P to the UK.
