A beautiful vintage jam pot by Arabia, Finland (or honey pot, sugar bowl, condiments/parmesan serving pot... anything you wish!) The decor is Plum and the range was called Pomona. The shape of the pots was designed by Ulla Procopé and from 1965 Arabia started using the Pomona patterns by Raija Uosikkinen. The Pomona line consisted of simple drawn images of various fruits in a repetitive pattern. In total 10 different patterns were used, inclusive of honey bees. Pomona was in production for nearly a decade from 1965 to about 1973. It has never been re-issued so all Pomona items you find these days are from this period. The decoration was applied through a silkscreen transfer process - so are usually still very bright. Good condition. There's one hard to see 5mm baseline white chip, see all photos. Two manufacturing flaws - an indented area to the rim and a flake within the white glaze, to the left of the chip. Clean with good bright print, with maybe just two dots of print missing. It's the taller version of the design, with no lid. Simple cylinder shape. The pot is stamped to the base with 'Arabia Made in Finland 10-65'. I was lead to believe that the latter number was the year of manufacture, so 1965. The Plums are a deep purple and the foliage mid and lime green, on bright white. 8.5cm tall x 9.5cm wide across the flared flat rim, 9.5cm wide at the base. Free P&P to the UK.
