A beautiful vintage jam or marmalade pot by Arabia, Finland (or honey pot, sugar bowl, condiments/parmesan serving pot... anything you wish!). The decor is Oranges and the range was called Pomona. The shape of the pots was designed by Ulla Procopé and from 1965 Arabia started using the Pomona patterns by Raija Uosikkinen. The Pomona line consisted of simple drawn images of various fruits in a repetitive pattern. In total 10 different patterns were used, inclusive of honey bees. Pomona was in production for nearly a decade from 1965 to about 1973. It has never been re-issued so all Pomona items you find these days are from this period, over 50 years old. The decoration was applied through a silkscreen transfer process - so are usually still very bright. The oranges are a pure vivid orange with a lemon yellow and burgundy brown trim, on white glazed ceramic. Very good condition with no chips, internal marks or crazing. Clean with good bright print. It's the taller lidded version of the design. Simple cylinder shape. The pot is stamped to the base with 'Arabia Wartsila Finland', circa 1960s vintage. The baseline of the pot is wobbly from production, see pics. 8.5cm tall pot, 9cm tall with the lid on x 10cm wide across lid top, 9.7cm wide at the base. (My mum used hers to keep halves of lemons in the fridge). Free P&P to the UK.
