A striking mid century trivet, breadboard/cheeseboard or nibbles serving platter. It's designed by Kaarina Aho and was produced by Arabia, Finland in the late 1950s. The beautifully simple fish-shaped ceramic piece is plain glossy black to one side and white to the other.
31cm x 18.3cm x 0.8cm glazed fine ceramic, hardwearing and like a tile. Stamped to the white back with the Arabia logo. Of course the fish's eye acts the perfect symmetrical hanging hole.
Very good condition for the age and era with some minimal signs of age. A few small knife and other wear marks, but no crazing. One white dot with some marks around it to the front. Three small rim/glaze imperfections (hard to spot). Better than most and great considering the age. Please check all the photos, I'd give it a 8.5/10.
A very cool modernist bread, cheese or snack serving board - or tivet - and perfect for display or use in a black and white minimalist kitchen.
