A fabulous square retro cheese board or trivet, with inset tile by artist Ann Wynn Reeves. Dating from the mid century 1960s/1970s era, the tile was designed by Ann Wynn Reeves for Kenneth Clark Potteries. Modernist abstract design of a lime green pear and teal coloured cherries with black (bleeding) outlines, screen-printed onto a white square ceramic tile. The glossy colours are raised with glass-like glazes. The design is likely to be on a H&R Johnson tile - as the tile is typical of Johnson's at 6" x 6". The board is a probably pine and typical of the era. It has a natural finish from time of manufacture. The board also features an indented area to hold the handle of the original cheese knife. The stainless steel and blond wood cheese knife looks very good, it's by Go-Gay, Sheffeld. There are two cutout 'carry handles' on the reverse. Good condition for age, and certainly very useable and presentable. Tile is very good. There are no cutlery marks to the tile, just an impact mark with very fine hairline to the right of the pear, see last two photos, and two teeny fleabites - better than most. The tile has been glued back in so sits high and could fall out if submerged. Wood is good with a few small scuffs and has been left natural. Overall, I'd give it a 8.5/10. A lovely retro collectable statement cheese board - ideal for display or use. Square - 22 x 22cm x1.5cm. Free P&P to the UK.
