A fabulous art glass vase, by Alsterbro, Sweden. Gunnar Ander (1908–1976) served as chief designer for Alsterbro and the designer and glassworks was also very closely connected to Lindshammar. The factory closed in 1969 - so all pieces are mid century 1950s-1960s.
This is a chalice vase with square base and round upper cup. It has a fabulous rich vibrant peacock blue/green, or teal, or kingfisher colour, cased in clear. It is ice or bark textured. Mouth blown in to a mould. Flat polished rim. A shorter version of the hard to find design.
12cm tall x 11cm wide at round rim. 5.3 x 5.3cm square foot... A statement piece of Scandi mid century art glass. Very good external condition for age/era with no chips or nibbles. Some natural internal bubbles and a very very slight water line. Stunning for a display!
