An Alessi (Italy) inox 18/10 stainless steel classic Bauhaus ashtray. The design was by Marianne Bradt (1893-1983) and dates from about 1919. Bradt was part of the Dessau Bauhaus and specialised in the Metal Workshop and was known for this design and other classy industrial design pieces from the 1920s-1930s. This Bauhaus ashtray was re-issued recently by Alessi under licence to celebrate the Bauhaus centenary. This is Alessi's current model no 90010, the item is official to Alessi, it is circa 5-20 years old and made in Italy.
Inox high quality straight-sided cylinder dish with feature dome to the centre, and conical lid with hole to the centre - they sit together perfectly. Stamped to the base with two logos "Officina Alessi Inox 18/10 Italy" and "Modell Original Bauhaus". The steel is very shiny and reflective. It's a very cool table accessory for any design-conscious recipient.
11cm widest (lid) x 5cm tall. Very good condition with a few tiny surface marks - not been used, just admired.
