A super 1970s lucite op art owl figurine, by Abraham Palatnik, Brazil. The flat sculpture/paperweight is a rounded simplified shape with black solid and dotted and hashed line details, sandwiched in the middle of clear 3D perspex. Minimalist, Modernist, mid-century, tactile - and hard to find.
The Brazilian artist Abraham Palatnik was a renowned innovator in kinetic, kinechromatic and op art - designing using lucite in the 1970s.
Very good condition for age and era. One side has a few scratches, shown. No chips. Base has the original 'made in Brazil' label and the signature 'Pal' is integrated into the design. A good sized and larger version at 15cm tall x 12cm wide x 3cm deep - narrow and ideal for display on a shelf.
A lovely mid century retro collectable figurine, very displayable.
