A stunning large glass serving bowl from Tapio Wirkkala's iconic 'Ultima Thule' range - influenced by melting ice and designed for Finnair. Designed in 1968 and produced by Iittala glassworks in Finland. This is probably 1970s vintage.
It's a good size, most likely intended as a fruit bowl. Suitable for serving salads/fruit/trifle etc. Staggered patterned textured sides, with random bobble bottom and three feet. Fab design, a Modernist iconic design statement. Heavy and high quality crystal-content glass, bright and clear and sparkly in the sun.
Really good condition for age and era. 20cm wide max (19cm at rim) x 9cm tall. A statement sized centrepiece bowl.
All my prices include P&P to the UK.
