A pair of vintage bisque porcelain candle holders by AK Kasier, West Germany. The stylised design is by Danish designer Bjørn Wiinblad. Wiinblad worked more often with Rosenthal porcelain than Kaiser porcelain. Circa 1970s vintage.
A matte/bisque white finish outside with simple flaring shape. Flared oval rim with point detail and glossy white finish to the upper surfaces. The raised design on both sides of both candle sticks is of a princess in a crown with a bird, and leaning on a ship's wheel, all surrounded by flowers - it's very typical Bjørn Wiinblad, stylised.
Stamped in blue to the bases with AK and the crown logo, and model no 630. Designed to hold a standard tapered dinner candle - inner well is just over 2cm wide. 9.3cm tall x 10cm x 7.6cm at the rim. Oval shaped base is 8cm x 5.5cm. Both very good clean and usable and displayable condition, one has a more defined raised design, the other is more subtle.
Simple, stylish, elegant, bright white Modernist pieces. Perfect for a Mid-century home, a Wiinblad collector and for Christmas!
Price includes P&P to the UK.
