A fantastic green glass Empoli tall genie bottle/decanter in a striking conical shape....
Vintage - most likely 1970s, and from Empoli, Italy. It's carefully and skillfully mouth blown and hand made rather than moulded or mass-produced pressed glass. Tall conical bottle, smooth and tactile. The green could also be described as a bottle green colour. Stopper is huge and hollow and pointy, nicely made.
Very good condition and very displayable with no chips (hard to photo due to scale). I found one small scratch on close inspection. The stopper has old vintage rubber bands on it and the stopper inner end is ground down. Being handmade the rim is slightly wonky. The inside of the stopper has some marks - I didn't want to attempt to clean inside the stopper. A huge sized - 66cm tall and 12.5cm wide at the base. The stopper alone is 26cm long.
Beautiful deep green colour - a real statement for a windowsill, or perfect on a mid-century modern teak sideboard with a collection. It's ornamental rather than practical.
