A pair of vintage 1970s Caithness vases, both in smoky 'Peat' brown.
The smaller one is the Caithness (Scotland) Braemore 'inkwell' vase, model number 4082, from around 1975-1981. Designed by Colin Terris. The taller one is probably also from the Braemore range from the same era, but I can't find another like it.
The 'Peat' brown is a smoky brown grey, and they're cased in clear. Handmade/mouth blown with flat polished rims. Nice simple retro 1970s Modernist design, with colours inspired by the Scottish Landscape.
Both very good condition. There's a very slight rim imperfection on the taller vase. They're petite so more suited to small wildflowers like bluebells/buttercups; they would take about half a dozen stems. Smaller: 10cm tall x 3.6cm rim. Taller: 12.5cm x 4cm wide rim.
Many thanks to Mark Hill for his Caithness Glass reference book (pic 10).
