A pair of matching Bob Dawe pottery vases, circa 1960s or 1970s vintage, from Red Barn Pottery, Suffolk.
Handmade rolled slab pots/vases (rather than turned on a wheel) - both simple 'volcano' cone-shaped vases made using a flat sheet of clay. They're small vases suited to just a couple of shorter stems if used. The lower sections have wheel or starburst shape pattern applied front and back. The lower part is rough and natural and unglazed with darker highlights, with a dusky blue-grey glazed uppers and inners. Stamped with the Red Barn logo (a little house logo) near the bases.
Perfect for any Bob Dawe collector, or for a collector of Studio pottery from the era, such as Carn, Louis Hudson, Troika, Bernard Rooke etc. Stunning for your mid century sideboard, or in a Modernist, retro or contemporary styled home.
Both very good condition with no chips, see photos. Some natural areas of missing blue glaze on the taller one from at the time of firing. The tallest is 9.3 x 6.5cm.
