An unusual 1976 sterling silver 925 pendant made in Sheffield, England, by silversmith/jewellery designer Jack Spencer. A unique and handmade large silver pendant, if you look closely you can see a series of tiny silver flat silver rods which have been randomly cut and twisted every millimetre... so much work and handmade in 1976. The large and heavy oval shape has gently domed complex openwork and is mounted on a silver frame. It's model number 46, which may have been a short run due to its complexity - I can't find another model 46. It's stamped on the back with the maker's mark 'JS' within a shield, along with the rose and lion passant for Sheffield sterling 925 silver, and 'B' for 1976. It has a large upper loop for the chain. A good sized 59 x 47 x 9mm oval pendant, weighs a chunky 23 grams (without chain). Lovely condition - the pendant is a fab and unique piece of mid century British silver. It's on a temporary replacement 17" 925 silver snake chain with a lobster fastening (chain is a bit wonky). Looks stunning on. It's typically brutalist and modernist and very much of its cool 1970s era. Perfect for a 50th birthday gift! Free P&P to the UK. Comes in a presentation box.
