A super pair of 1960s cufflinks from Birmingham, England. 925 grade solid Sterling silver - they weigh 14g together. Hallmarked to one side of the posts with the Birmingham anchor, then a lion, followed by the date letter 'U' - U is 1969. The other side of the stems has another stamp - they may be by 'EFC' but the maker's name is illegible.
Mid century era and very much in a Brutalist style (with random vertical lines, jagged edges, pitting, irregular patterns, layers, blocky). They're a rectangular shape with the central areas bored out, see photos. They're just as attractive from the back with the irregular pitting. They are slightly different - indicating handmade.
Each is 2cm x 1.2cm to the front, and about 3.5mm deep. Excellent for age with a great shine - they actually look new. Both have an angled stem/post and a pointy back toggle; both toggle very well. Perfect for a 1960s brutalist fan; they're quite funky!
