Whitefriars ruby red art glass vase no 9657, 1960s/1970s. Vintage/retro oval 5" tall, with original sticker/label. Mid century, like hambone

A fantastic ruby red art glass vase by Whitefriars.
It's featured in the 1969 catalogue, so likely to be late 60s vintage. Model no 9657. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter.
The deep red appears to be sommerso - floating - cased in clear glass.

A simple and stylish bulbous oval shape, not as wide as the Hambone vase.
Heavy thick quality glass, well made. Mouth blown/handmade.
Would hold a dozen short flower stems.

13cm x 7.5cm x 6cm.

No chips, nibbles or bites.
A few signs of age on base as you'd expect. Good clean rim.
Original black paper label with the Monk image and 'Whitefriars Made in England'.

Excellent condition and displays beautifully - as good as you will find!
