Whitefriars aubergine art glass vase 9657, 70s. Vintage/retro oval 5" tall. Mid century, like hambone. Plum/purple bulbous bud vase. British

A fantastic aubergine (purple plum colour) art glass vase by Whitefriars.
I think the shape is featured in the 1969 to 1980 catalogues, but I believe Aubergine was only made for a few years in the early 1970s, so likely to date from then.
Model no 9657. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter.

The deep warm purple appears to be sommerso - floating - cased in clear glass.
A simple and stylish bulbous oval shape, not as wide as the 'Hambone' vase.
Heavy thick quality glass, well made, with a Scandinavian look. Mouth blown/handmade.
Would hold a dozen short flower stems.

Apx 13cm x 7.5cm x 6cm.

No chips, nibbles or bites... Well, there's a 'microbite' on the rim that you would need a magnifying glass for!
Minimal signs of age. No water staining.
One inclusion in the side from time of manufacture (ash?).

Excellent vintage condition and displays beautifully.

Free P&P to the UK.
