Whitefriars 9772 controlled bubble Aubergine art glass vase. 1972 lobed, encased bubbles. 9" Vintage/retro Geoffrey Baxter bullicante purple

The gorgeous tapering taller version of a five-lobed bullicante (controlled bubble) vase by Whitefriars, England. This one is the 9772, 9" art glass vase in Aubergine. I can only find reference to the Aubergine colourway in this shape in the 1972 catalogue, so it would date from this exact time - 1972-1973. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter in the early Seventies.

Distinctive plum purple (Aubergine) inner, cased in clear glass outer. The glass has rows of internal controlled bubbles over the colour. It has tapering sides, with the inner colour and bubbles tapering out towards the chunkier base. There are five lobes or ribs. The base is flower-like, with five polished flat parts and the indented distinctive Whitefriars pontil.

Great condition. Lobes are good and clean, no obvious scuffs. No chips or nibbles - very usable and displayable. A couple of tiny manufacturing dots from being made. Good base. Really good chunk of retro 1972 or 1973 art glass!

23cm tall x 7cm wide rim x 10.5cm wide base. Weighs a very heavy 1.75kg.

P&P included to the UK.
