Whitefriars & Caithness 1982 butterfly window-cut art glass paperweight. Vintage milliefiori canes, blue ground. Limited edition 99/750, P2

A stunning 1982 collectable Whitefriars milliefiori art glass butterfly paperweight...

The milliefiori canes were made by Whitefriars in the 1970s and up until 1980. The Whitefriars factory (London) closed in 1980 I believe. Whitefriars then became part of Caithness Glass (Scotland) in 1981, and Caithness continued to issue Whitefriars pieces using Whitefriars' canes. So with this date cane of 1982 this is a Caithness produced Whitefriars piece, see last photo, it's model number 0382W.

It features a lovely butterfly with the signature Whitefriars blue monk logo and the date of 1982 in the top middle. All within a fine tightly-packed milliefiori flower shaped outline. Model shape is P2 - five side oval faces/facets cut flat, plus a flat top. The colour comes across as dark blue with a green and pink butterfly, with pink outline. Roughly 7cm wide x 4.5cm tall.

It's a limited edition, item number 99 of 750 made - hand scribed to the base. Excellent condition, I can't see any flaws.
