Vintage Whitefriars 9558 controlled bubble art glass bowl/dish. Arctic Blue/grey. 1960s shell shape, encased bubbles. Retro Geoffrey Baxter

A pretty controlled bubble art glass bowl by Whitefriars, England. This one is the 9558 in a very pale Arctic Blue (it's almost a silver grey colour, not typical Arctic Blue). It's in the 1960 and 1961 catalogues, so dating from the early 1960s. The shape was designed by Geoffrey Baxter.

The glass has rows of bubbles, getting smaller towards the base. It's a pale blue grey colour, not cased in clear - I'd thought this was Pewter originally, the blue only shows up on this white background. Typical indented Whitefriars pontil base.

Excellent vintage condition. No noticeable chips or marks. I'd give it a 9/10 - very displayable, perfect for a collector. 16.5cm long x 9.5cm wide x 6cm high.
