Vintage Murano sommerso glass candle holder. Cobalt royal blue/peach cased art glass, retro Italian. 1960s 1970s Mid century. Lobed ribbed

A hard to find and very unusual Murano sommerso art glass candle holder, from Murano, Venice, Italy. Vintage 1960s/1970s mid-century design. It's a funky 6-sided star shape to the base, with rounded pinched-in body with six ribs, very thin neck and a lightly twisted ribbed holder.

It's a deep cobalt or royal blue with peachy amber sommerso (floating colour), cased in clear glass. Hand made - mouth blown. I've similar designs attributed to Flavio Poli, Seguso and Cenedese but with the ribbing it may be by Cristallo Venezia CCC.

It's 10.5cm tall x 8.5cm widest. The upper cup or holder is 2.5cm diameter internally - just about right for a standard tapered dinner candle. Flat polished base.

Very good condition with no chips. The upper cup has some dust internally I've not been able to remove, and the hollow lower part appears to be dusty internally, but I can't see how! (see the last photo).
