Vintage Murano sommerso art glass geode. Round block bowl/ashtray/dish turquoise aqua & green. Italian mid-century. Vintage/retro solid disc

A large and beautifully made Murano (Italy) art glass geode from the 1960s or so, in a typical vintage Murano colourway. The piece is most likely to be Cenedese origin, though it has Galliano Ferro colourings and Seguso traits, so by one of these three great Venetian glass factories.

Perfectly round thick solid art glass in a cylinder shape with horizontal and vertical planes. There is a vivid emerald green sommerso circle of internal colour, all cased in aqua turquoise coloured glass. Glass around the rim is around 2.3cm thick. Flat polished geode rim, like it's been cut in half. Flat polished base as you'd expect for quality vintage Murano. A beautiful colourway - it would have been intended as a fancy statement ashtray back in the day.

Very good condition. There's one small outer nibble, see photos, and internally the deep green has a very slight film/residue from being used as an ashtray. The flat polished base shows signs of its age/era with the fine scratches you'd expect. Some other very small insignificant marks, but nothing jarring. All only mentioned for accuracy - it's a lovely and large statement/ornamental piece.

I'd give it a 8.5/10 - very good for the age, displayable, collectable and unusual.
