Vintage Modernist Crown Trifari brooch/badge. 1950s/1960s silver tone costume jewellery. Retro American signed metal pin, swirl layered oval

A lovely simple and unusual vintage 1950s or 1960s costume jewellery brooch, made in America by Trifari. Marked on the back with the crown image above the Trifari logo, and a copyright sign - denoting 50s/60s era.

This Modernist style mid-century brooch is a bright silver tone cast metal. It is shaped like a pair of rounded claws evenly spaced around each other, forming an oval shape with slithers of windows through. It is layered and textured - the shapes are spiky and pointy with fine lines, they alternate between a lower satin layer and an upper shiny layer (see photos and you'll see what I mean, it's hard to explain!). It is typical of the era.

Since the 1920s, Trifari have been one of the most respected and admired producers of costume jewellery in the United States. Trifari used a Crown Symbol over the T as a logo. It was stamped onto most of the pieces produced from the 1940s through the 1960s. In 1955, Trifari started using the copyright symbol in its signature. Pieces of that era have both the Crown and Copyright symbols in the signature, which was used in the late 1950s to late 1960s... just like this piece. A sought after vintage signature.

Sightly 3D and skewed so the oval sits at an angle, apx 50mm x 35mm x 12mm (excluding pin). Roll over pin on reverse works well. A great example. Fab condition, very wearable... Quite a smart retro statement!

Includes P&P and presentation box to the UK.
