A stunning Finnish mid century (1960s) silver pendant by Martti Viikinniemi.

The round silver pendant is very typical of his stone-mounted silver pieces, although it is unmarked. It's hallmarked with '830 Silver'; 830 is a Scandinavian grade silver. The mounting has four curved in 'clamps' and four holes - a turret-style mounting. The stone is a half-ball of polished purple amethyst, cabachon set. The purple stone has variations in the purple with darker and lighter patches.

The round silver mounting is 18mm diameter, with the amethyst about 13mm wide; it has a plain solid silver back. It measures 33mm long and is about 12mm deep. Upper loop to the top for a chain or cord, stamped underneath. Mid Century Modernist and Minimalist in style, and typical of the 1960s Scandinavian era.

Would suit a chain of about 16-18" long. Just the right size - smart, simple, classy. Good for age and era, if you look closely there's one microscopic dot/scratch to the stone (photos 3-5) so is priced accordingly.
