A super vintage art glass vase by Tapio Wirkkala for iittala, Finland.

The vase was designed in 1959 and was in production until about 1970. This cylinder vase, model number 3586, has an bubble encased within the solid clear glass base. It maintains much of its original vintage triangular 'i' sticker and is hand signed to the base with 'Tapio Wirkkala 3586". It's a dusky midnight blue, cased in clear glass - it was handmade, blown into a mould. Flat polished rim. Beautifully simple mid century Scandinavian design.

190mm version of the design x 5cm wide. Very good condition. Just one slight surface mark that I can see. Original box is intact, as is the leaflet which is dated 1966 (dating this vase from 1959-1966).
