Vintage Hornsea Concept rare ashtray. Hole in lid, cream ceramic pottery. Martin Hunt & Colin Rawson. 1970s retro round circles, lidded dish

A striking late 1970s or early 1980s Hornsea Concept rare lidded ashtray or dish, designed by Martin Hunt & Colin Rawson. The Concept design won a Design Council Award in 1977, and it's featured in the V&A Museum. The design was inspired by streamlined 1930s style with modern 1970s shapes. It has a series of evenly spaced concentric circles, with a slight step between each ring. Stylish, feminine and simple, this is in the original matte pale cream colouring. It's a chalky finish - like a bisque porcelain finish (very prone to marks). Glossy on the centre of the lid and inside, and hole to the lid for cigarettes/cigars.

Very good condition. No chips or cracks. There's a couple of small surface marks, see pictures. Stamped to the base with 'Hornsea England, Oven to Tableware, dishwasher freezer and microwave oven safe'. Round and shallow - 5.2cm tall x 11.3cm widest.

Also ideal for trinkets, jewellery, coins etc.

Free P&P to the UK.
