Vintage Hastings Studio Pottery plate, 60s/70s. Dennis Lucas blue striped design. Long ornamental handmade platter/dish, two fish. Stoneware
A long vintage handmade dish or plate, by Dennis Edward Lucas, from Hastings Pottery. He worked at the pottery from 1956 to 1995, but this is likely to be 1960s or 1970s era. It has the distinctive incised double fish logo to the reverse for Hastings Pottery, which was used from 1963 to 1995. Deep red smooth clay base, with glossy glazes to the uppers.
Pointy and long eye-shaped dish or shallow bowl. Predominantly muted blue/green tones - the background wash is a pale duck egg blue, over which 3D parallel stripes have been carefully indented along both long sides (like corrugated card). These outer 3D stripes have been over-painted with some mid blue lines and some darker graphite grey (almost metallic) splashes along the full length. See photos. The under side is glazed white.
Excellent condition. 15" or 18.5cm long x 15.5cm wide x 3.5cm deep (pen shown for scale in last photo). Perfect for display and for a collection, looks to be unused. Also ideal for serving nibbles or for elegantly displaying fruit. This plate has never left the Hastings area!
