Vintage French bird-shaped fat lava vase bowl. Bubble textured black/grey. Mid century retro. Vallauris pitted glazed ceramic/pottery. 1970s

A curious French 'fat lava' art pottery vase/pot/bowl, in the shape of a bird. Made in central southern France and circa 1960s or 1970s vintage.

It's pottery/clay with black, white and grey lava textures. The unique textures have deliberate undulations, broken bubbles etc. Signed to the base with 'Pont en Royans' - from a pretty village pottery north of Vallauris and in the Vallauris style. Very much like the West German fat lava vases from that 'fat lava' era. A bird shaped vase/pot with cream inner, although probably more ornamental.

15cm tall x 14cm wide x 9cm deep. Very good condition. Some marks to the cream inner. The glaze has deliberate pitting, burst bubbles/holes, ridges and small colour splodges - please study the photos. It's a lovely piece and a nice example of French 'fat lava'.
