Vintage East German Strehla fat lava pottery planter. Yellow & green/black pitted textured. 1960s/1970s retro plant pot holder. VEB Keramik

An East German (GDR) pottery plant pot holder by Strehla VEB. From the fat lava era (1960s/1970s) and in the fat lava style of textured bubbled 3D glazes with glossy contrast.

It is an indoor planter. The yellow base glaze is bright citrus yellow round and the black trim looks dark green. Internally it's a contrasting duck egg blue glaze. Stamped on base with just 'Germany' - I've found more items with this distinctive design with the Strehla base stamp.

Good vintage condition. It has some crazing, lines and discoloured patches in the yellow glaze, see close up photos. No chips and it's water tight and useable. 13.5cm high x 15.5cm wide at the rim - would hold a plant pot up to 13cm tall.

Very retro and perfect for a Mid century and modern rustic interior - very striking colour!
