A mid century cat figurine, designed and made and signed by Dorothy Clough for Gefle, Sweden. This design dates from 1954, and was produced in small numbers at Gefle until 1957, then continued at Upsala Ekeby. This is from Gefle in the mid 1950s. British born Dorothy Clough is a well known Modernist Scandinavian designer, known for her playful figurines.

Each feline figurine was handmade and decorated by hand - they're all different. White clay or porcelain, with brown painted stripes, and inset green eyes, small black nose and little pink tongue. Signed D.C. by Dorothy, and also stamped with 'Dorothy Clough Gefle'. Small, simple and flat: apx 10cm wide x 11cm tall x 3cm deep.

Very good condition without any chips or cracks. Some slight crazing in a couple of places on very close inspection. The nose is deliberately cut to shape. Please study photos - he's great for the age and era.
