A striking, colourful and unusual mid century Desimone (Italy) vase...

Circa 1950s/1960s by Giovanni De Simone for De Simone Maioliche D-Arte pottery, Sicily. The Desimone pieces were stylised, naive and primate - with influences from Picasso and the Mediterranean - and the subjects were usually colourful childlike drawings. This geometric cylinder vase is more unusual - it has a Bitossi feel with its rough clay, and it has a hand-painted simple geometric pattern. The design is roughly painted green over off-white, with a splash of yellow, deep orange and sky blue. It's model number 06/B, a cylinder vase with a red clay base. It has a light glaze.

Excellent condition, perfect for a collector. 19.5cm tall x 7.5cm wide.
