Vintage Dartington FT172 crystal art glass ice bucket: Frank Thrower 1970s clear ribbed. Corrugated Contours Art Deco range + Guzzini tongs

A 'Corrugated Contours Ice Bucket', hand made in Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in 1974 and was by Frank Thrower. Model number FT172, and part of the Art Deco range. It comes with the original minimalist plastic/acrylic ice tongs - made by Guzzini, Italy.

It's round and chunky with five external horizontal ripples or ribs and a wider rounded base. The top has a flat polished rim. Bright clear crystal content glass (24% lead crystal). Handmade, mouth blown - thick moulded glass. It maintains its original black sticker (denoting a second, and from a later production from the early 1980s). Chromed metal moveable carry handle.

It's in very good condition. The handle has a few minimal marks but a good silver shine. Very good rim, base has some age-related wear. A couple of tiny bubbles and a small scrape at the end of one handle. 11cm tall x 11.5cm at the rim (12.5cm wide base), and a heavy thick 1.6kg. Tongs are 16cm long.
