A hard to find solid glass handmade candle holder, by Dartington Crystal. Possibly designed by Frank Thrower (he died in 1987, and this dates from around 1987 to 1995).

It's designed to hold a standard tapered dinner candle (inner hole is 2.1cm wide). It's a tapered block, like a pyramid, with two horizontal fold areas which have bubbles, ripples, lines - very much like the "Arkipelago" candlestick holder by Timo Sarpaneva from the 1980s... maybe it was Thrower's version of the Scandinavian design. It has the sand-blasted D logo to the base that dates it to the early 1990s, and I've seen smaller versions with the 'Dartington Crystal' sticker on which also dates them to 1987 onwards. It will be 24% lead crystal - it's clear and bright shiny glass.

157mm high by 57mm wide (at square base). Very good lightly used condition - rare and unusual, especially in this taller size.
