Vintage Caithness Stroma 10" tall art glass bud vase #4022. Domhnall OBroin, 1961 design. 1960s/1970s retro. Soot smoke grey sommerso, cased

A good example of a taller 1960s Caithness Stroma bud vase #4022. It's in a harder to find "Soot" colour, I think. It's a dark warm grey, cased in clear glass.

Made in Scotland. Designed by Domhnall OBroin in 1961 - he was strongly influenced by the clean simple lines of Scandinavian design and he used a sommerso technique for this design, as per Murano, Italy. Nice simple Modernist mid century design.

Very good vintage condition. Flat polished rim and base are good - there's one natural burst stretched bubble inside the rim. There are a further few stretched bubbles (fine lines) within the glass. One tiny fleabite on the flat polished base. Great for display and a more unusual darker greyer tone - perfect to join a cluster other Caithness vases. These vases are tall and slim and would only suit a single tall stem... this is extra stretched version at 10" tall.
