A 15cm tall Dalecarlian horse or Dala horse (Swedish: Dalahäst). It's a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). The original meaning behind the carved Swedish Dala horses may be unknown, but today the red painted wooden Dala horse is essentially a folk symbol of the country of Sweden itself and a perfect gift idea.

This vintage example is circa 1970s-1990s. It's by Grannas (Anders Olsson), the older brother of Nils and Jannes Olsson. Made in Nusnäs, Sweden, hand carved from carefully selected pine, hand painted and varnished. Every Dalahorse is "double" unique - the manufacturers can identify the carver and the painter. Grannas Anders Olsson started making dala horses in 1922 and the woodcraft continues today - this is by the oldest Dala horse manufacturer.

Very good condition with very good colours and no splinters, please see photos. Has an original sticker to his belly. A very nice medium sized example - he stands 15cm tall.
