Vintage 1966 Sterling silver Brutalist/Modernist brooch. 60s pin badge, London SV stamped. Bark textured random staggered rods brick pattern
A super mid-century Sterling silver brooch dating from 1966. It's stamped on the back with the maker's initials which look like SV or SW, then two assay marks (the lion and lion's head, representing London, Sterling Silver) with the date stamp of what looks to be a fancy 'L' for 1966. The stamps are tiny and they're hard to make out. Please see close up macro photos.
A chunky and solid brick or branch like retro brooch. Jagged random shape, made from 10 rows of random length solid silver textured rods. Random cuts/gauges form a bark texture. Both Brutalist and Modernist in style and era. The photos don't do it justice - it's a stunning and unique piece. The pin on the back is handmade in appearance/feel and works well.
Looks stunning on, just the right size to be a statement.
Sits flat, can be worn any way up. 55mm x 34mm x 3mm wide rods. Quite weighty - 23g.
Free P&P to the UK. Comes in a presentation box.
