Vintage 1960s Thomas Pinwheel 6 cups and saucers. Blue & teal porcelain. West German Minimalist Modernist, tulip flower. Dining. Rosenthal
A set of six beautiful vintage porcelain coffee cups and saucers made by Thomas (Rosenthal), Bavaria, West Germany. Circa 1960s vintage, although it's hard to believe. The graphic design is called Pinwheel and is a based on a simplified teal and blue tulip flower. I believe the design dates from 1965 and was designed by Richard Scharrer. They're beautiful simple minimalist shapes with a retro design.
Bright white glossy porcelain or fine bone china with a clean crisp printed flower on one side, and plain white saucers. Stamped with the logo to the bases.
Excellent clean and usable and displayable condition. Cylindrical cups are 6.5cm tall x 6cm wide. Saucers are 14.3cm wide. They're a smaller size cup, more for a stronger French press morning coffee (demitasse). Cups hold apx 150ml or half a 'cup'.
Simple, stylish, elegant, bright white Modernist pieces. Perfect for a modern or Mid-century home, or to go with other pieces from the range. It's a great retro design!
Price includes P&P to the UK.
