Viners Sable mid century Fruit Spoon set, Gerald Benney. Boxed stainless steel cutlery tableware, teaspoons, serving. Vintage retro 1960s
An original boxed set of Viners Sable '7-piece Fruit Set', ref C484/421. Vintage 1960s-1970s.
The complete set has six teaspoon-sized spoons along with a serving spoon. They're a 13.2cm long rounded tea spoon, ideal for cake, starters, nibbles, pastries, desserts, fruit, starters - whenever a smaller pudding spoon is required! The larger spoon is ideal for serving pudding, trifles, jellies etc and is 21.3cm long. (All multi-purpose and useful).
Designed by Gerald Benny, Des, RCA in the 1960's for Viners, Sheffield, England. The silver/goldsmith was influenced by Scandinavian minimalism, as you can tell from the simple retro design. The spoons have a Modernist lightly textured linear pattern on the handles. Original retro packaging with high quality 18/8 Sheffield stainless steel tableware.
Hardly used, and would probably have been a wedding gift in the 1960s and kept 'for best'. Excellent condition spoons with minimal signs of use and a good shine (and matt backs). Stamped to the backs 'Viners of Sheffield, England, Stainless Steel'. Box is good for age - red outer box has fab retro graphics, black velvet covered plastic moulded inner with gold 'plaque'. See all photos.
Includes P&P to the UK.
