Two Kastehelmi candle holders by Oiva Toikka Iittala, 1964. Vintage 1970s. Smoke grey glass circular raindrop/bobble patterns. Retro Cascade
A matching pair of vintage pretty candle holders, originally designed by Oiva Toikka for Iittala or Nuutajarvi (Finland) in 1964. Nuutajarvi (also known as Notsjo) of Finland originally made these, production was later continued by Iittala after Nuutajarvi closed. I believe Cascade (England) also made these under license for Nuutajarvi. These could be by any of these companies. No longer made in this shape, so hard to date - probably 1970s/1980s vintage.
Nice subtle light smoke grey coloured molded pressed glass (a 1970s style neutral colouring). Designed to hold standard tall tapered dinner candles. Textured with 'dewdrops' underneath. No ribs internally, which would probably date these to an earlier version.
"Kastehelmi - inspired by morning dewdrops, Kastehelmi’s glass droplet design brings the outdoors in."
Both in very good condition. Being pressed glass they have sharp irregular edges from moulding. One has an air bubble inside (see pic 6).
7.6cm wide x 3cm tall. Inner hole is about 2.1cm wide.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
