Teak butter dish/plate & knife. Mid-century square British/Danish MCM. Eames/Dansk style. Retro serving tray or cheese board. 1960s.

A really unusual, and possibly unique, square teak butter dish.
I think this is British made but very much in a Danish/Scandinavian mid-century Modernist style.
Circa 1960s.

No labels or branding, I can't find another like it. A high quality designer piece.

The butter knife tucks very neatly into the wooden board to form a clever perfect square.
The handle has been carved in a deliberate shape to fit in.
The 18/8 stainless steel knife blade says "Stainless Sheffield England".
It's very shiny and hardly used, and the blade is shaped for butter (not overly sharp).

The glass inner insert which would hold butter, is a petri dish (I believe).
It has a British Standard printed on it - BS611. It's a decent thickness of a 'safety' glass.
Has an insignificant fleebite on the inner rim.

The teak board is beautifully and skillfully made. It has a few scratches on the upper surface of the wood.
It has a slot for the knife, an indented circle for the glass dish and has a round foot underneath (so it floats slightly off the table). The wood has a few small splinters around the edges. It is unpolished and has a natural satin sheen.
