Tapio Wirkkala Iittala, Sointu 'Chord' ice textured glass vase. Vintage 1980s. Mid-century modern. Clear 6" tall textured. Finland/Finnish.

A stunning art glass vase with a distorted linear like pattern, with areas of smooth contrast. By Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala, Finland. Base is signed by hand 'TW'.

The Sointu design was made by iittala from 1979 to 1992, so circa 1980s vintage. Sointu means 'chord' in Finnish. I think it's model no 2781, a fixed blown glass with cut rim. The jagged rim is polished horizontal flat, nicely finished.

It is a medium sized vase, 16cm x 8cm wide and 5.5cm deep, suitable for a good dozen stems. Just under 600g.
Very clean and bright clear glass, undoubtedly has a good crystal content and probably unused.
Very good condition.... One side has a shallow scratch, and the rim has an internal slight slither - neither detracts from its beauty, please see photos, you'll struggle to see them. Just mentioned for accuracy.

A useful-sized collectable vintage Tapio Wirkkala piece. Looks stunning in the sun and on display. High quality Scandinavian vase in a hard to find narrower design!
