Tapio Wirkkala design Finlandia vodka bottle. Empty 70s/80s vintage ice-like glass liquor container. Textured art glass, Finland Scandinavia
An original vintage 1970s Finlandia vodka bottle (used and empty).
The bottle was famously designed by iittala's Tapio Wirkkala, I'm pretty sure it was to compliment the 70s Paadar range of shot glasses.
Designed for Alko (a Government operated liquor company in Finland) in the mid 60s, and manufactured until the late 80s.
The red metal lid is pretty good for age/era - seal has been broken. Glass itself is excellent - it undulates, it's irregular, jagged and unpredictable in a linear melting ice like design (like so many of his other designs). Bottle is stamped to the base with 'Liquor Bottle Alco Finland K13 71'. The black and silver paper label has faded a little (the red sun has faded) and has signs of wear. The back has faded so appears yellowed from behind.
Good clean condition - a collectable Wirkkala design that's becoming increasingly hard to find (would have been mass produced and therefore thrown away).
75cl, so wine bottle sized - 26cm tall.
