Skrdlovice Glassworks Andromeda art glass bowl/dish. Jan Beranek Czech/Bohemian blue & green. 1960s vintage/mid-century, Sklo Union. Twisted
A stunning vintage art glass twisted oval bowl, designed by Jan Beranek for Skrdlovice Glassworks in 1964 (Czech/Bohemian). Andromeda is an organic freeform glass formation with hot-worked exterior spirals or twisted ribs. This is a small oval bowl version in pale blue (outer layer) with a green sommerso (floating layer inside). Could have been a large fancy ashtray originally. Chunky and tactile glass, mouth blown and artist finished.
Good vintage condition. It has some light and hard to see surface marks on the ribs (such as the line on the last photo). There's one tiny nibble in the inner rim. Base is flat and polished with a few signs of its age. Has a couple of natural bubbles, see pics. I'd give it a very good displayable 8.5 out of 10.
17cm x 8cm tall x 11cm wide. 800g - heavy for its size.
