Scheurich 242-22 pottery vase, red & dark brown, Fat Lava era. West German ceramic, 1960s/1970s vintage retro Germany. Fabiola stripe glaze
A striking red stripe curvy ceramic vase by Scheurich, West Germany. Dating from the 'fat lava' 1960s/1970s era, this has a single undulating vivid red stripe, with paler brown surround/halo, and glossy dark brown uppers and lowers. I believe the glaze is called Fabiola. Flat and smooth liquid bleeding glazes over a simple shape - typically Scheurich. Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect statement for your teak sideboard.
The shape is 242-22... 22 denoting 22cm tall (well, 22.3cm). 11cm widest, 8.5cm wide at the rim. Stamped to the base.
Very good condition. Some natural imperfections in the glaze from time of manufacture, see photos. An area of natural thinner glaze to the rim. But overall, in nice displayable and collectable condition. An ideal size for a statement splash of colour on a sideboard, would hold a good 12+ flower stems.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
